There seems to be a solid number of folks with problems concerning reliability. I would agree with this based on my limited experience of people I see running x39 AR15s. If you like projects and don't mind missed opportunities a x39 upper may be fine for your needs. If you just want to put some cheap ammo into hogs and forget about everything until the next hunt you may find that x39 bolt guns are a better place to put your $$. I have had dozens upon dozens of x39 AR's cross my hands or shoot in club 2 or 3 gun stages with me and I could probably count on one hand and still have fingers left over after showing how many actually ran "flawlessly." I still have some AK's and a couple CMMG Mutant MK47 rigs to use for semi auto and the Ruger Ranch in a bolt gun with a 20 round mini30 type mag that is my daily buggy/ranch rig.

Between the upper and a couple mags you're spending Ruger American Ranch Rifle $$ & Between the mags and the BCA upper it may or may not function properly depending on the wind direction or moon phase.Ĭommiex39 is a good, cheap, totally capable hog prescription but it is best left to something that can eat from AK mags or a bolt action.
